Rep member carpets Maku over comments against Governor Shettima A member of House of Representatives, representing Gaidam-Yunusari- Bursari Federal Constituency of Yobe State, Goni Bukar Lawan has replied Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, describing the Minister as the most ineligible public office holder to make comments against Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State or even speak on Boko Haram activities in the country. Maku had during his handover of the Federal Ministry to the substantive Minister, General Aliyu Gusau, described Shettimas remark that the Boko Haram were having superior arms and more motivated than Nigerian Military as as misfortune of indiscretion. The Rep who is though from Yobe State said Maku has no moral basis to speak because he deliberately failed to visit Borno and Yobe States to get first hand information as Minister of Information who should be custodian of happenings in the country and as a supervising Minister of Defence for months. Labaran Maku is a chicken hearted, lazy noise maker who is completely ignorant of things he ought to know so much. The number problem of Nigeria today is the Boko Haram crisis. The number challenge of the Federal Government today is the Boko Haram crisis. The number one threat to President Goodluck Jonathans re- election bid today is also the insecurity in the country caused by the Boko Haram. The number threat to the northern Nigeria is Boko Haram. The number one Nigerian who should have availed himself with first hand information about the crisis so that he can speak from the position of knowledge and authority is Labaran Maku as Minister of Information but to the shocking disappointment of every reasonable Nigerian, Maku has never visited Borno or Yobe since this crisis began. He represents the north and speaks for the country, yet he neither visited as information Minister nor did he visit as supervising Minister of Defence who had all the security cover he could have wanted. In fact, even when President Jonathan visited Yobe and Borno with all the service chiefs and thunderous security details,Labaran Maku was so chicken hearted,un-thoughtful and incompetent that he did not deem it fit to at least hide under the large entourage of the President so he could interact with those on ground in Borno and Yobe to be better informed. Rather than visit to learn more to do his job,he stays somewhere like the ostrich that he is and keeps making divisive noise that will only attract ill will for the President and the Federal Government. As far as I am concerned, Labaran Maku is the least qualified to speak on the Boko Haram issue let alone attack Governor Kashim Shettima who many good Nigerians admire and respect so much for his courageous handling of Borno, his empathy, his commitment and very good management of the crisis. Shettima is like our own Governor Ibrahim Gaidam in Yobe who is doing exceptionally well and very efficient throughout this unfortunate crisis. We will not allow anybody to injure the reputation of any of these two Governors because they are the leaders that have kept our communities going, they bear the brunts, they provide shoulders for our people to cry, they assist them and rebuild their destroyed houses, our people are being killed daily while Labaran Maku is busy flying from pillar to post in the name of good governance tour leaving his main job of equipping himself to know about the crisis threatening this country. Maku is the worst Minister of Information we have had,he is busy reducing himself to Abatis job of promoting the President when he should focus on the image of the nation and get information to help in finding solutions to the nations security challenges the rep member said. Lawan, who is the Chairman,House Committee on Poverty Alleviation under the APC platform, advised President Jonathan to be wary of Maku and people like him who are attracting public insults for the Presidency whereas the Makus as busy fuelling their political ambitions while working against cordial collaboration betweens States and the Federal Government. Lawan called on Governor Shettima not to be deterred by Makus statement but should remain focused and realise that he has the support and well wishes of millions of patriotic Nigerians
