Repealing the Federal Death Tax The concept that the government is entitled to 40% of one’s life’s work is counter to the very ideals of private property our nation was founded upon, which is why I took action to lead a coalition of 30 lawmakers in urging House leadership to schedule a vote to repeal the federal death tax imposed on deceased Americans. Passing H.R. 2429, which was introduced in 2013, should be a key component of our efforts to protect small businesses and family farms from ruinous taxes. Rolling back this punitive tax will ensure that the legacy of small business owners and job creators is not destroyed simply because their lives have ended. Rep.
