Reply I received from Commissioner (acting ) Kemps office. I honestly didnt expect anything better!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coffey, Michael J (DOT) 4:36 PM (54 minutes ago) to me, DOT Commissioner Kemp asked me to respond to your email enquiry. Herbicides are simply another tool in our vegetation management toolbox along with mechanical cutting. Any and all applications of herbicides will be in accordance with our IVMP and ADEC regulations. As we previously stated, the DOTPF believes that compliance with our approved Integrated Vegetation Management Plan in conjunction with use of registered pesticides, application by a certified applicator, following label directions, and compliance with other pesticide regulations are adequate to ensure that pesticide use does not result in unreasonable adverse effects to the environment and is sufficient to protect human and animal health. Thank you, Mike =================================== Michael J. Coffey Chief, Statewide Maintenance and Operations Office of the Commissioner Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Office 907-465-3904 Cell 907-978-9039 Fax 907-586-8365 Description: cid:[email protected] Keep Alaska Moving through service and infrastructure. -----Original Message----- From: Kathryn Guillaum [mailto:kguillaum1@gmail] Sent: Wednesday, December 03, 2014 7:38 PM To: Commissioner, DOT (DOT sponsored) Subject: I implore you...Mr. Commissioner; Please use your conscience, influence and common sense to stop herbicide spraying in S.E and the rest of Alaska. Spraying is lethal to all wildlife, and the population of Alaska. We live in rainforest so leeching will destroy much more then some weeds.
