Reply to NO MORE SMALL LOT HOUSING - This dividing up the larger blocks is called infill. In the 2006 Planning Scheme this was allowed across the City. In my Division Ormiston/Wellington Point there are many areas with a higher density allowing units as we have 3 QR Stations, good public transport....1 house now 10 units eg the new development across from Wellington Point State School..I did what I could to get a better outcome in this location as a safety concern with School traffic and parking (note it wasnt my election poster they put up on their fence :) ) anyway now these blocks have been given this zoning, density it cannot be removed so therefore we are stuck with it. I have heard some say at present they would prefer to extend development out rather than have infill...well the infill is already planned so going out will not stop it we will only end up with both. The latest Redland Land Supply Review 2014 indicates that from now till 2041 there is enough planned space to accomodate the number of dwellings required to house our target population. Factors here to consider :- that there is adequate supply of land , the cost of providing additional land specifically the cost of infrastructure . It is less costly to develop infill with tapping into exisitng infrastructure ...pipes etc...than new areas. This infill as mentioned before has been planned since 2006. This Land Supply Review can be found on our web site and read in full. All these reports are to be considered at present while revising the Planning Scheme which is why it is vital as many residents as possible understand and comment on what they would like to see included in this new Redlands 2015 Planning Scheme A question is...at present Redlands has an Urban footprint which is theboundary where development can occur within. Do residents want this urban footprint increased to green fill sites or do we stay within the existing urban footprint which has enough planned to house predicted population growth to 2041? Please be informed and involved - we want to get this revision of our Citys future right !!!
