Report on media freedom in Belarus unveiled in Minsk. A report by London-based Index on Censorship painting a grim picture of the state of media freedom in Belarus was unveiled in Minsk. Speaking at the event, Andrey Bastunets, deputy chairman of the Belarusian Association of Journalists, said that independent media outlets in Belarus had to operate in a very repressive environment. The number of arrests of journalists was 60 in 2012 and 45 last year. No media outlets were threatened with closure in the past two years, said Mr. Bastunets.
