Reported in Mondays Gadsden Times Records from the Alabama state comptroller and the budget office show that the payroll for House Speaker Mike Hubbards office increased by 41 percent between 2011 and 2013 while wages for state employees were essentially frozen. The staffers in legislative offices arent generally included in the state worker classification system. Teachers havnt got a pay raise in 7 years and neither have most other state workers. Sure makes you wonder where all this money comes from that is available to give Hubbards staff such big increases in pay. I know it makes all the teachers feel good to start back to school with news like this from Montgomery. They said it was all based on merit pay. Guess other state employees just dont work hard enough for an increase in pay. Work harder teachers and state workers so one day you will deserve a big raise like this. Mike Hubbard sure is a fine member of the state legislature. LOL
