Reports from foreign media outlets this morning suggest that Alexis Sanchez has completed his switch from Barcelona to Arsenal. @Futbol_Tudo, which reports transfer news from around the world in Spanish tweeted: “CONFIRMED: Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez is new player of Arsenal. Arrives from FC Barcelona.” (Translated) On top of this, TV presenter @Gustavo_Cima added: “Superb addition to the #Arsenal team” (translated), with Alexis Sanchez hash tagged. And in the early hours of this morning @PabloStecco , a SportsCenter journalist, stated: “Arsenal are on the verge of signing Alexis Sanchez, fee is €30m.” (translated) Though the reports are unconfirmed at the time being, it does suggest that things are progressing promisingly for the Gunners- who have been chasing the Chilean international throughout the summer. Reports yesterday stated that Alexis Sanchez had said goodbye to staff at Barcelona and is now set to join the Premier League outfit, as Liverpool resigned to the fact that they would not be getting the World Cup star as part of the deal taking Luis Suarez to the Premier League. Negotiations for Sanchez have been progressing this week and Arsenal lodged a bid on Friday, which it now seems they have improved to match Barcelona’s asking price. Sanchez is reported to have agreed a deal in principle and should complete a medical imminently to make his arrival at the Emirates official, if the latest reports are correct. Arsenal are also closing in on the capture of Newcastle United right-back Mathieu Debuchy for a fee of £8m after the French defender was knocked out of the World Cup, with reports stating he informed a French journalist about his move after the loss to Germany on Friday.
