Repost: Tagging family and several friends who may have known Jim Fugate, my father-in-law, when he was the Marshall University BSU Campus Minister at the Christian Center... It is with great sadness that I want to let my friends and family know that my father-in-law Jim Fugate passed away yesterday afternoon, Friday December 12, 2014, sometime between 3:30-6 PM. Sean had spoken to him earlier yesterday, and he told him we would be there after work that evening to fix his printer. We called him before we left, and he didnt answer. We got to the house, mail was in the mailbox, and all of the lights were out which was extremely unlike him. We went into the house and found him sitting at the the computer, sitting upright, eyes shut, and hand on the mouse beside the telephone- just like he had fallen asleep sitting up while at the computer. He was very pale, had no pulse, and was gone by that point. There is comfort knowing that he was a Christian and that he had passed peacefully with no struggle, but it does still hurt so very much to know he is gone. We will miss his routine phone calls to check on us, his concern and love for us, his silly jokes that made us sometimes groan :) , his gorgeous piano arrangements that he played, his emails, his love of playing canasta, and all the ways that defined Jim as the Jim we knew. Jims wish was to be cremated and to have a Celebration of Life service as he didnt like sad funerals. He looked forward to being in heaven with Jesus, his friends, family, and my mother-in-law and his wife Susie who passed a few years ago. With the holidays being here, people traveling, and his friends with church Christmas commitments, we are trying to coordinate the best time to schedule Jims celebration service. It could be as early as this next Saturday December 20th or as late as Saturday January 3rd. Please stay tuned; I will be posting the arrangements in the next few days here on Facebook.
