Representative Andrews Completes Second Term (Orange) – State Representative Denise Andrews (D) completes her second term as State Representative for the Second Franklin District. “I want to thank the voters of the Second Franklin for the privilege to have been elected and to have served the wonderful people of our communities, “ share Representative Andrews. “When I returned back to my hometown and our area it was crystal clear that we needed to gain support for fair share investment in projects for economic development, infrastructure and programs and that we must evolve our culture. Working with Senator Rosenberg, Senator Brewer, Senator-Elect Gobi, Congressman McGovern, Governor Patrick, and some leaders from the private and public sector, we secured millions of dollars to advance this region. I have transitioned leadership of the unfinished projects that have support to these colleagues and have asked for additional resourcing help from Mass Development to best insure that these are fully realized. We have broad band, mill building repurposing, east:west rail, investments to address our opioid crisis, exit 18 and exit 19 development, school and library building projects and the Belchertown and Templeton sites redevelopment to yet fully complete. I look forward to the continues progress of this great region and our communities.” “On advancing our culture, we, myself and Legislative Aide Brian Eno, who has been a great partner and leader in achieving the goals of our office, have every day done our best to be respectful, helpful, a team player and a champion for change and progress”, shared Representative Andrews. “In my four years I believe, Massachusetts leadership lead and leaders have been good shepherds for job growth, improved fiscal stewardship, in caring for the vast needs of our families, in leading green energy for a sustainable future, have advance diversity, equality and inclusion, have stood for improved performance, accountability, engagement and transparency and have delivered renewed prosperity and hopefully faith in government.” “I have witnessed us advance policy, performance and good governance. From advancing minimum wage, education, health care, oversight and accountability to budget and capital investments. These actions increased access for all individuals and communities to realize the ideals we pledge to uphold. I have also witnessed some concerning choices and outcomes that are not only a disservice; they also threaten this great democracy and our ability to realize our ideals. My first concern is the recent upsurge in judging the “we’s” and “they’s” and the lack of compassion, knowledge, and accountability to be responsible citizens and to be our brother and sisters keepers. My second concern is the amount of money influencing and the lack of ethics and professional standards in sharing vetted, accurate and truthful information on policy, process and people. And my third concern is the times when we do not do our collective due diligence, fully engage (i.e. vote, work together) and boldly lead and own addressing the critical failures in our society. Three areas that urgently need bolder leadership and progress are first: insuring safe communities-free of violence and drug addiction, second: in achieving economic justice, and third: in insuring sustainable communities. My hope in sharing these perspectives is that we open our hearts and increase our collective will and performance to build on our strength, address our failures, and to together with wisdom, love and urgency advance this Commonwealth to lead to truly be “one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all,” and that all individuals, do realize in their lifetime, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Humbling, daunting but entirely possible.”
