Representatives of the campaign attended the monthly meeting of Saundersfoot Community Council which was held on Thursday 11 December. At the meeting the Chairman informed Members of the Council that he had spoken with the Chairman of Saundersfoot Harbour Commission and due to the level of opposition, which exists not only within the community but also from visitors to the village, the Harbour Commission would not be supporting the proposal to demolish the Coal Office and its adjoining gardens. Also following correspondence received from supporters of the campaign, the Community Council are to arrange a meeting with both Martin White, Head of Regeneration for PCC, and Rob Scourfield, Conservation Officer for PCNPA. The meeting will be attended by a deputation of four Community Councillors and Maryellen Doyle representing Save Saundersfoot Coal Office campaign. Both these points are encouraging news and were achieved because of the strength of support given to the campaign. We understand that planning consultants, The Urbanists, may no longer be involved with the regeneration programme. As far as the campaign is aware PCC are still considering the proposal for demolition. The campaign therefore needs to remain strong and vocal until PCC announces that they have also abandoned the proposal to demolish the Coal Office and its adjoining gardens. We shall raise an e-petition, to send to PCC before the meeting is scheduled, to emphasise the campaigns objections. We would ask everyone to support the petition. If we could achieve signatures in excess of 1000, it would send a very strong message to PCC. Save Saundersfoot Coal Office would like to wish all supporters a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to receiving you continued support in 2015
