Reprise: Preach My Gospel (official manual for LDS missionaries): The Great Apostasy ...With the death of the Apostles, priesthood keys and the presiding priesthood authority were taken from the earth (p. 35). Yet, BOM prophet, Mormon, had the priesthood keys and authority, and he lived into the 4th century AD. Likewise, Moroni, and he lived into the 5th century AD. So, even if John and the three Nephites had not lived on, disproving the Preach My Gospel claim, the Great Apostasy could not have started until after AD 421. Joseph Smith messed up, big time.
