Request for comment on this before I push it out tomorrow morning. I think illustrations are mostly finished, Im wondering if I should talk more about the downfalls of Ara specifically (as right now Im just mentioning modularity as a whole). Some things Im considering touching upon: Microphones in phones arent in one place anymore - theyre scattered around the phone to better filter out ambient sound, so they really cant be a modular part (meaning theyd be part of the Ara chassis). Same with antennas - they need surface area (which is why the old iphone 4s turned the antennae INTO the chassis). Batteries are also a big issue - making the modular really makes their size significantly larger. Since batteries dont really get smaller over time like the rest of phone components, they really need as much space as possible to let a smartphone get good battery life. This isnt going to be something thats easily solved soon either (even if screens were perfectly efficient, theyd still use a tremendous amount of energy, and theres not much we can do to stop that).
