Rescue Crews Pull Passenger from Springfield Crash SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – One woman is in the hospital after a single car accident on Chestnut Street early Saturday morning. According to Dennis Leger, Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, that accident, which occurred at the intersection of Prospect and Chestnut Streets just before 2 o’clock Saturday, was serious enough to require use of the jaws of life. The driver of the car was able to get out on his own, but the female passenger had to be rescued from the vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital with what are described as serious injuries. No word at this hour as to the circumstances of that accident or the condition of the passenger. We will update this story as soon as information becomes available.
