Rescued from Discouragement (Psalm 43) Have you ever been deeply discouraged or depressed? Many people live that way every hour of every day---chronically depressed. What is the solution? King David had periods of time in his life that were dark and dreadful. He exposes that fact in Psalm 43. He was dealing with an ungodly nation, wicked men are in pursuit, and as he went about mourning he even begins to wonder if God has rejected him. Davids solution for such a state of mind is to ask God to use His light and truth to guide him to His holy mountain (Gods presence and dwelling place). Doctors, medicines and friends can all be helpful in times of discouragement, but nothing can relieve us as well as being led into Gods presence through His light and His truth. Perhaps you or a discouraged friend need to begin asking God to rescue you from times of discouragement. The light and truth found in the Bible will bring you into Gods presence just as they guided David to the holy mountain.
