Resident rescued from house fire NORTH PORT -- A person was rescued from inside a burning home Monday night, authorities said. According to North Port Fire Marshal Michael Frantz, firefighters were called to the house at 5417 Kenwood Drive at 8:40 p.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the structure. An unidentified resident was helped out of the house and is believed to be OK, Frantz said. The fire was extinguished within minutes, he said. The cause of the fire was not known late Monday. The state fire marshal was notified and Red Cross was called out to assist, authorities said.
