I must disagree about the need for park and ride buses to get priority at present the average passenger ratio per bus between 0700 and 0900 is only 5.7 between 13 buses in fact not even a full bus load over the two hours, not a very green option. You will not get people to use park and ride during congestion hours because the return journey will take much longer on a bus than in a car. Why would you want to sit on a bus when you can sit in your own car and turn onto your route whilst the car driver on the bus has to wait until he gets to the park and ride stop then gets into his car then has to exit the site before he turns for his route home maybe some 10 minutes later. Also giving this bus priority in this location means an increase in pollution to the residential area in Selby Road a bus has the pollution output of 100 cars again not a very green option. I fully support park and ride as a tool to reduce traffic in the city centre but when most people who use park and ride are after 0900 there is no need for this urgency you require for bus priority. Considering you are a green organisation you are more supportive of giving buses priority in life than than reducing pollution into a residential area. Are you aware the measures you support for these buses will make the residential area in Selby Road the second most polluted area on the Fulford Road corridor, to the detriment of the health of the residents. Also you mention that the City of York Council had nothing to do with the Traffic Signals on the slip road. We the residents have been corresponding with the Highways Agency, agents, who advise us they acted on behalf of the City of York Council for the implementation of the signals and the design and infact City of York requested design changes on the initial design. We were also led to believe by COYC, they had no input to theses signals.
