Resident speaks out on recovery house Dear Editor, I am writing in concern of a home that Metropolitan Housing is trying to purchase and is planning to house five men that are part of a drug recovery program. The property is 1 Angle Place, Logan, Ohio off of Vine Street. The majority of the homes that have this property in their backyard have kids or grandkids that play in the yards that adjoin this property. These kids are young and will be directly impacted by having this next to their home. I would hope that those involved in approving this have taken into consideration that these kids are our future, Logan’s future. Putting this type of home in these kids’ backyards is a disservice to them. Parents and grandparents should be able to let their kids play in their backyards without having to worry about what their kids are going to be exposed to. I agree that drug recovery homes are needed. However, the age and vulnerability of the community members should be considered when choosing the location of such homes. I feel that the Metropolitan Housing Authority is trying to sneak this into our backyard and doesn’t care about the effects on the rest of the community. I am concerned that the community has not been given any notice to such plans and ask for details of the plans to become public knowledge. Shouldn’t the community be given prior notice, be aware of such plans, and be given the chance to share their concerns? I would greatly appreciate if you could look into this story and let the rest of the community know what is happening. Thanks for your time, Amanda West Logan
