Residents in Chililambowe have bemoaned the high number of illegal immigrants alleged to be smuggling maize out of the country. They have complained about the immigrants getting into the country through villages and via the boarder. Speaking to Sun FM during a live phone-in programme dubbed the community watch the caller said the people are believed to come from neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo into the country and illegally buying maize for resale. He has since appealed to the relevant authority to look into the matter.
