Resist Not One of the great challenges of our spiritual journey is to maintain the appropriate balance between the realm of absolute Truth and the changeable, manifest world around us. For example, Jesus clearly taught us that we are to “resist not evil,” and we are able to grasp the spiritual Truth behind the teaching: we are all one with each other and with God. That which we call evil is simply ignorance, and to resist it is to give it more power and validity than it could otherwise achieve. What, then, if we are attacked, or if we are the victim of a crime? Do we refuse to fight back, or to press charges, in the interest of resisting not evil? We do not. We lovingly take the action necessary to protect ourselves or to bear witness to an act of ignorance. We recognize that while each of us is truly the Presence of God, we are at very different levels in terms of our abilities to acknowledge, much less express, that Presence within us. We hold to the absolute Truth, even as we honor the importance of lessons learned and actions taken in the manifest realm. In absolute terms, there is no such thing as justice; there is only God as Law, expressing evenly and lovingly in all situations. As we progress toward a realization of that absolute Truth, we allow God through us to express in whatever ways are necessary to move us safely and expeditiously along the path. Today I am open to the absolute Truth of God expressing in practical ways in every area of my life. Thank You, God.
