Respect. As a parent and now grandparent, it remains important for me to reinforce and teach respect for self and others. Today was a test of both. Evidently an incident occurred making entrance into Kindred Arlington somewhat of a maze. As I attempted to seek direction from the officer, his frustration with the situation was evident. His words and inflection were really rather improper. I explained that it is very important for me to teach Kate to respect those in his position and his behavior was making my job very difficult. Additionally, it was important that I teach her to respect herself enough to handle the situation appropriately. We went into Kindred, purchased cold bottled water and went back outside to take it to him. We received hugs and I was even granted a fatherly kiss on my head. All was well. As Kate and I were leaving she said MomMom, I am not a fan of that officers behaviors. I think it was very kind of you to let him know that you understood because forgiveness is so important. But, I cant blame him for being so grumpy. I mean if my name was Officer HELL, Id probably be really grumpy too. I literally choked on my water from laughing! His name was Officer Hill and he really is a nice man. Forgiveness is so important. At least thats what I was told. #FiveYearsOfWisdom. #ILoveHerSoMuch.
