"Responding appropriately to a stressful situation demands - TopicsExpress

"Responding appropriately to a stressful situation demands objective and accurate assessment. Anger in a crisis can influence our ability to respond objectively. Anger is an emotional and physical state. If we respond when angry we may find ourselves in situations that escalate and result in threats, unreasonable consequences and punishment ...., damaged relationships, physical confrontations, and decreased satisfaction." A normal reaction to stress is anger and fear. When responding to a crisis out of anger and/or fear, the response will more likely increase the stress and risk of the situation. By being conscious of anger, we are better able to evaluate the situation. Regain composure and address feelings and behavior in a manner to DE-escalate the situation... Rather than escalate it.
