Response from Suffolk County Council regarding the use of temporary classrooms in Sudbury and Great Cornard: "As part of planning for the school taking on two additional year groups we recognised that there would be a short term increase in the pupil population and therefore put in place the necessary accommodation to meet this need. It is for the school to decide how they use the space they have to support the delivery of an engaging education experience for pupils. It would not have been a good use of public money to build permanent accommodation that is only needed for a short period of time (although the school would have had to continue using some of its budget to pay for heating, lighting, security for these areas, rather than for education purposes). In addition, the Government is clear that schools must not operate with more than around 5% of surplus accommodation."
