Response from ZAHAWI, Nadhim to a recent email just FYI... Thank you for your email. As you may have seen, I have sent you my views on the badger cull programme. In answer to your second point regarding proposed developments around Shipston, protocol dictates that individual planning issues are a matter for the District Council. If you wish to register your opposition to new developments, I would urge you to contact your local councillor if you have not already done so. As I am sure you are aware, your local representative is Richard Cheney and I am sure he will be on your side in this matter. As you may also be aware, I have been campaigning at the national level to reform the NPPF so that local communities are given their say in new housing developments. You will be pleased to know that the Government has recently amended the NPPF to promote brownfield development by reducing the costs associated with it. This is proof that the voices of people in the countryside and rural villages are being heard at the highest levels. This article from the Daily Telegraph carries more details of the changes: telegraph.co.uk/earth/greenpolitics/planning/10679048/Developers-to-get-incentives-to-build-new-homes-in-towns-and-cities.html I am delighted that the hard work and energy of so many people across the country is now paying off. The changes will help to ensure that we meet our national housing needs while minimising the impact on our rural communities. I can assure you that as MP for Stratford-on-Avon I will continue to speak up on planning policy issues. Warm regards, Nadhim
