Responsible parents teach their children when they are young [age - TopicsExpress

Responsible parents teach their children when they are young [age depends on child] that it is not appropriate [they do not have permission] to make messes [sin]. And if they make a mess they are responsible to clean up their mess. 1 John 2:1 - My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not [do not have permission to] sin [make a mess]. And if anyone sins [makes a mess], we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous. Little children is teknon [4th and final stage of development in the childhood level of maturity]. John is saying that little children can be taught to manage themselves in such a way that they do not make a mess. Jesus, our Advocate, does not clean up the mess we make when we mess up. He forgives us and cleanses us when we confess [take responsibility for making the mess]. The context for 1 John 2:1 is 1 John 1:5-10 - 5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. Verse 10 says, If we say we HAVE NOT sinned . . . The next statement is 2:1 - Little children, . . . . so that you MAY NOT sin. Our past life of sin is not an excuse for present or future sin. One way to verify growth in the natural is we make less messes. The same is true for the spiritual as well. 1 Corinthians 15:46 - However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. Paul says we learn spiritual truths from natural things. Responsible parents teach their children that one day they will stand before God and give an account to Him for the way they lived their lives on earth! Responsible parents keep in mind they will stand before God and give an account for how they trained their children. Keep THE Faith! Keep THE Passion! Our hunger & thirst for God escorts us into deep satisfaction in GOd!
