Retired Sgt. Edwin Syrek #1002, graduated from the NJSP academy in 1950. He served 25 years with the NJSP. He is 90 years strong. Sgt. Syrek was recently involved in a car accident and has to undergo surgery tomorrow. He has received tremendous support from New Jerseys law enforcement community. Trooper Gregory Soto lends Sarge his cover in one photo, while the Sarge enjoys his newfound celebrity status by signing an autographed headshot in the other. Sgt. Syrek is in our thoughts and prayers tonight. Thanks to all the troopers who have visited him, and a special thanks to Sgt. Dennis Jarin, of Ocean Township PD, who is currently at the hospital keeping Sarge company.
