Retrospect----- Another year in the annuls of Warm Springs Fire Management.... the men and women of the green and yellow, warriors, warriorettes..... Mothers and Fathers, Brothers and Sisters... Sons and Daughters.... friends....... It has been a successful year, no major injuries and for our firefighters here, in our sister agencies Yakama, Spokane, Colville.... our comrades from the Southwest.... no fatalities..... as we survive the beast another year we take a moment to remember those who did not make it..... Honor the fallen.... commemorate the lives lost by fostering an environment of safety, diligence and unity to protect each and every sacred soul whom chooses to battle Mother nature in all her fury..... bring everyone home... including our fallen... God rest their souls..... Stats for the year, 1 escape out of 70 or so incidents... a success rate of 98% which is above the National average of 91% success in initial attack... for conditions that had a high potential for major fire activity... our initial attack forces have been outstanding.... The engine crew led by Jabbar Davis, our IHC led by Gary Sampson Jr., the Fuels Crew led by Joel Thompson, Our sections... operations AFMO Luther Clements Fuels AFMO Kia Donahue and his staff Glenn Smith, Bob Sjolund and Dorian Soliz..... Our Administrative staff Theresa Hyatt Morris & Tana Frank.... Now our operations section had a successful season because of the support section of fire management that kept the communication, supplies and transportation services going.... logistics..... Dispatchers Bob Medina and Norman Lucei, Warehouse Supply Tech Thomas Medina warehouseman Rob Roy, Fleet Manager Terry Squiemphen, the prevention section Prevention Officer Tony Holliday, Techs Albert Charlie & Andy Stacona.... The campcrew program under Bob Medina with 8 crews, Albert Briseno, Louis Leclaire, Jose Barrera, George Ike, Burgs Thompson, Monte McKinley, Chooch Cardenas, and Byron Frank/Elmer Charley and Joni Wallulatum and the restoration crew....... The forestry program Vernon Wolf, Talya Holliday, Jay Suppah, Louie Smith, Hotdog Heat, Virgil Orange, Yvette Leecy, Michael Leecy, Leslie Bill, Rapheal Queaphama, Rich Botto, others also..... Clay Penhollow and Rawlin Richardson Public Information Officers....... Our BIA support Lori Anderson, Denys White, Tobi Smith-Morales, Bev Surface, Carmen Parkens, Angela Dewalt Herkshan.....John Halliday Superintendent..... The folks in the regional office Cory Winnie, John Szulc, Len Diaz, Kim Kelly... Nancy Lee Wilson from the National office.... all working together to ensure the protection of the lands of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs..... Yet our most important support... the foundation of our success is our families.... the ones who sacrifice along with us, endure long periods of our absence.... hurt with us.... celebrate along side us.... with whom we could not carry on..... My thanks to all who contributed... and who all have supported us in our times of extreme duress in an environment where the service lost nearly 30 people this year..... thank you all.... Everyone has come home for 2013..;
