Rev. Blamo Presenting His Platform To The Community. Team Blamo Platform is a list of the values and actions to be taken when elected as President of our community. Platform serve as a guard to incoming leaders and if those who are inspiring to be our leaders cant not present a platform it will be very difficult for them to lead our community. A leader without platform is like A Blind Man Trying To Help Someone Cross The High Way. This Is Team Blamo Platform-------- Our Platform. This Is Our Platform And Ready To Take Our Beloved LCAC To A Higher Level. Our Platform Rev. Philip Blamo and Team Mission: Promote Liberia cultural heritage abroad, develop LCAC and its members and support development initiatives in Liberia. Goal: Unify our community and provide opportunity for community members to increase their potential in education, vocational training and financial empowerment; and to promote similar opportunity for Liberia Communities back home. Objectives: 1. Unification: Introduce individual telephone calls, neighborhood and home visits to foster network among community members. 2. Membership: Re-launch the membership fund drive with regional drives in Bridgeport, West Haven, New Haven and Hartford quarterly. These drives will be facilitated by the regional councils that will be appointed by the president. Direct mailings. The most common, and probably the most efficient, method of contacting prospective members or LCAC members is a direct mailing. Establishing a mailing system that will help disseminate information and communication very fast and efficient. 3. Education Program: Promote scholarship initiative for young Liberians in Connecticut, providing college readiness coaching and mentoring through the Education committee. Organize quarterly fund raising to generate a minimum of $10,000 yearly to support our LCAC scholarship program. We will solicit additional donations to supplement the mega stipend that we provide for LCAC scholars to include used computers, used text books and affordable school materials. 4. Council of Elders: We will develop the elderly membership of our community and empower the council of elders through the council of 5 elders who will discuss issues of concern to our elders. We will connect our elders with state and local agencies to conduct regular workshops for awareness in health, retirement and benefits for seniors. 5. Youth Committee: We will encourage the election of core of officers of our youth and engage our youth in activities that promote sports, science and technology. We will work with the general assembly to empower us to align our youth programs with the YWCA and YMCA in our various towns. 6. 501C3: I worked supportively behind our outgoing president to acquire the exempt status from IRS. I have obtained the IRS RFP package that includes list of federal projects. I will create an army of dedicated professionals to write projects for youth engagement, programs for senior, Scholarships for Minority and female empowerment for our young girls. 6.1 Office Space: It will be a mandate for my administration to acquire an office space with in the first 90 days of taking office as your president. I have a drafted plan to reengage the owners of our 2550 Main St office, and it will remain a top priority for the new administration. 7. Immigration: During the first term of my tenure as Vice President, I was introduced to the halls of Connecticut General Assembly by the current president. I met with several congressmen including John B. Larson. We will help complete TPS applications for our fellow Liberian who narrowly escaped the deadly Ebola virus and are currently visiting the United States. We will engage our congress to follow up on other immigrant applications sitting on desks in U.S embassies around the world for members of our community. 8. Collaboration: Our collaboration with regional Liberians organizations will be strengthened. Above all, I will continue my outreach to non-Liberian organizations and seek to increase the scope of our alliances. This month, I met with students and professors at Yale and introduced the plight of Liberians in Connecticut. The Yale human right outreach has promised faithfully to work with LCAC in developing programs that will educate Liberians of their rights here in the United States and in Liberia. In October, I established similar relations with the City council of West Haven and was invited to their city council meeting where I stressed the urgency for global intervention against Ebola in our country. While the council deliberates on the level of engagement with our community, my administration will present the first formal request for an ambulance and fire truck to help save lives in Liberia. We will strengthen our relations with ABCD (Little Liberia) of Bridgeport, engage Links incorporated and provide a comprehensive plan to the city of Hartford to continue the summer youth engagement program that was initiated during my tenure as Vice president. 9. Networking: My appearances on state TV and taking up headlines in major newspapers has given extensive exposure for our community. We will take those exposures at our advantage to expand our network with cooperate and non for profit organizations. 10. Bereavement: This is number one priority for our community. Haven tasted the pain of loss myself, and understand the value of family and community support, we will find no excuse for not reaching out to any member of our community in crisis. We will maintain the separate bank account for bereavement and introduce an annual fundraiser to replenish the bereavement account. Fellow members of LCAC, I’ve been here for 4 years, I’ve served like a servant and I have learned during those years. I may not be the brightest amongst you, but when you give me this opportunity, I promise you sincerely to do my very best with every strength God has given me. Thank you for the opportunity given me to serve you, and I need your vote to keep our community unified, strong and progressive. Thank You. Rev. Philip Snoniwlah Blamo------Your Next President. Charles McGill-----Team Blamo Manager.
