Revelation 3:1-22 [by Max Lucado] SITUATION: God continued to address the spiritual lives of his churches. He encouraged the church in the Asian city of Philadelphia to persevere through difficult times. But the churches in Sardis and Laodicea were told to repent of their sin. OBSERVATION: God does not tolerate a mediocre spiritual life. He wants all Christians to be involved in loving and serving. INSPIRATION: Consider the Laodicean church. This church was wealthy and self sufficient. But the church had a problem - hollow, fruitless faith. I know what you do, God spoke to this group, that you are were not hot or cold. I wish you were hot or cold! But because you are lukewarm - neither hot, nor cold-I am ready to spit you out of my mouth. The literal translation is to vomit. Why does the body vomit something? Why does it recoil violently at the presence of certain substances? Because they are incompatible with the body, vomiting is the bodys way of rejecting anything it cannot handle. What is the point here? God cant stomach LUKEWARM FAITH. He is angered by a religion that puts on a show but ignores the service [from the Angels Were Silent by Max Lucado]. APPLICATION: If God gave you a report card on your relationship with him, what would it say? What are the areas you neglect? Continue what you are doing well; Aggressively improve an area you have neglected. [[ Blessings to all family and friends ]]
