Revisited Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, Not a person was praying - not me or my spouse. The Bible was laid on a shelf without care And the dust that had gathered just sat on it there. The Children were changing to crawl into bed Without once ever kneeling or bowing their head. My wife in the rocker with the cat on her lap Was watching the late show, while I grabbed a nap. When out of the sky there arose such a clatter, I sprang to my feet tho check the whole matter. Away to the window I flew in a flash Threw open the curtains and drew back the sash. When what to my wondering eye should appear But angels - proclaiming that Jesus was here. With a light like the sun sending forth its bright ray I knew in a moment that this was the Day! The light of his presence made me cover my head. It was Jesus returning - just like He said. And though I possess worldly wisdom and wealth I cried when I saw Him, in spite of myself. In the Lambs Book Of Life which He held in His hand was written the name of every saved man. H spoke not a work ans He searched for y name. Its not here He said sadly, and my head hung in shame. The Christians whose names had been written with love He gathered to take to the Father above. Then with those who were ready He arose without sound While those who remained were left standing around. I fell to my knees - but it was too late, I had waited too long thus sealing my fate. I watched and I wept as they rose out of sight Oh, if only I had been ready tonight! In the words of this poem, the meaning is clear The coming of Jesus is fast drawing near. Theres only one life - and when comes the last call Then well know that the Bible was true after all! Source unknown.
