Revolutionaries demanding the downfall of the Yemeni government have once again clashed with security forces in the capital Sana’a. Heavy clashes erupted near the house of President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi. Protesters have been staging demonstrations in the capital for nearly a month, demanding the formation of a new government and reinstatement of fuel subsidies. They say the government is corrupt and marginalizes the country’s Shia community. Meanwhile, Houthi fighters and pro-government militias from Islah Party have agreed to halt fighting north of the capital Sana’a. The agreement was reached through UN mediation. The fighting between the warring sides became so intense on Friday that international airlines suspended flights to the airport in Sana’a and state TV stopped broadcasting for several hours after coming under fire.
