Rhapsody Of Realities_ Monday,June 10th HONOUR BEGETS MORE HONOUR By Pastor Chris Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. 1 Peter 2:17 Everything the Word of God tells us is important, but certain things are given to us as key principles and factors for progress in our lives. These things help us win and give us the advantage. One of such is honour; it’s important for us to understand what honour is and how to give it to others. Our opening verse tells us about honour from different perspectives. Honour primarily means to show respect to, towards, or for. It means to give recognition to; to esteem another. It also means to give preference. In the light of these definitions, the Bible tells us to honour all men. We’re to honour the brotherhood—those in the house of God —and we do this by walking in love, because Jesus told us to love one another. You can’t walk in love without showing honour. The verse also says, “Fear God.” We honour God by demonstrating reverential fear towards Him. Finally, it says, “honour the king.” This refers to how we deal with people who are above us—those who have authority over us—whether in our social, business, or political lives. Why does God tell us to honour others? It’s because of what honour does. You can only receive what you give. If you don’t give honour, you can’t receive honour. The more you honour others, the more you’re honoured. Revelation 5:10 says, Christ Jesus has, “…made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” This gives us an idea that we were raised to be honoured in Christ Jesus; we’re kings and priests; we’re men and women of honour. Thus, we must always be willing to give honour, because honour begets honour. PRAYER Dear Father, I thank you for making me worthy of honour and teaching me to honour others. I willingly give honour to others with all sincerity and love, thereby expressing your nature of love, and the humility of Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
