Rhinos Sharks & Unicorns by Vic Feazell Instantly, Brick and Mace bowed their heads in unison. Brick snapped into the iconic prayer position with his eyes closed tight and his steeple fingers pointing skyward and tucked under his chin. He looked like an innocent child saying his good night prayers with mommy watching. Mace bowed his head, closed his eyelids into little slits, and glanced nervously back and forth through his eyelashes. Then Mace started mumbling something barely audible under his breath. It sounded vaguely like a chant or like he was saying the Rosary - or something like that. Then the Kristofferson man, softly, but with a reverend-like tone, and purposefully loud enough to be heard by anyone standing in the doorway, said, “Lead us not into temptation Lord, but deliver us from evil.” Mace and Brick waited for him to say something else, but he didnt. Silence ruled. It seemed like for ever. It was at least three seconds. Then the door squeaked again and clicked closed. Who ever it was, they were gone.
