Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony To Mark Opening Of Gornto Lake Road Expansion On September 24 Hillsborough County Commissioners will join representatives from the Brandon Westfield Mall and Chamber of Commerce in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Gornto Lake Road Expansion. This event will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the intersection of Town Center Boulevard and South Gornto Lake Road. The newly extended roadway is approximately a half mile-long, and provides access by four 11-foot-wide vehicle travel lanes and two 4-foot-wide bicycle lanes, as well as a 5-foot-wide sidewalk along both sides. The project cost was estimated at $4 million, and was funded by a Community Investment Tax. In addition, the Gornto Lake Road Expansion Project was completed $85,000 under budget, and was finished two weeks ahead of schedule. Shoppers traveling to the Brandon Westfield Mall will find it easier to get to store locations by using the new connector road. They will also have a more direct route to travel from State Road 60 to Causeway Boulevard
