Richard Dawkins tweeted that if there are aliens “out there” he just knows that they’ll be atheists… just like him. “If we ever talk to aliens, their civilization will be far more advanced than ours (because of distances involved). They won’t be religious!” To be absolutely sure of something is a weak intellectual position, indicating a lack of openness to possibility, it becomes a dogma (something to take on blind faith). Dawkins position on advanced alien civilizations being exclusively atheist is unsupportable. My expectation of alien civilization spirituality is that there will be a spectrum of belief in spiritual issues. On rationality alone agnosticism/critical rationalism will be predominantly represented by thinking beings, as for those inclined to question the extent/limits that rationality can answer arational issues (such as metaphysical choices and meaning to life, the universe and everything -- that rationality can not address), it is an open position, some will be spiritual/theistic (in a critical fideist choice) others wont be (by metaphysical choice).
