Here is a definitive answer to your very valid question which requires no further comment so I hope admin will let it stand. 1/56 is the truer scale to 28mm. Warlords figs are excellent but you can use alternatives if you wish. A word of caution. Google image size comparisons because manufacturers ideas of 28mm vary considerably. As to 1/56 vehicles, they are the same, but , some of us prefer 1/48th as they look more dramatic. Both are fully acceptable . The rare few like myself prefer 1/50th but thats just because we are awkward SOBs and enjoy being contrary. If you are limited to size of table and want to play larger point games you can use 20mm ( 1/72 ) or for huge bloodfests 15mm ( 1/100th ) scale.
