Richard, Hundreds of U.S. restaurants help drive the slaughter - TopicsExpress

Richard, Hundreds of U.S. restaurants help drive the slaughter of 70 million sharks each year by serving shark fin soup.* These millions of sharks are often ripped from the water, hauled aboard just long enough to have their fins are sawed off while theyre still alive, and then cast back into the water, where they sink and drown. We can make a significant dent in the shark fin trade right now if we can convince U.S. restaurants to stop selling shark fin soup. We called dozens of restaurants suspected of selling shark fin soup, often illegally. But Canton House in Atlanta was the first that admitted to having the soup on the menu, and denied our initial request to stop this cruel and unusual so-called delicacy. In the coming weeks, we’ll work to pressure the owner of Canton House to stop serving shark fin soup. The first step is to get the owner of Canton House’s attention. As a popular local eatery in a growing city, Canton House relies on social media to bring in new customers. And by posting our outrage there, well be sure to get their attention and educate their thousands of fans quickly. Click here to post on Canton Houses Facebook page and ask them to stop serving shark fins soup. Or, if youre not on Facebook, click here to send them an email. Here is a sample Email/Facebook post: Dear Canton House, sharks are being hunted to the brink of extinction and you are contributing to that by serving Shark Fin Soup. Please stop serving Shark Fin Soup at your restaurant to reduce the demand for shark. Humans are hunting sharks to the brink of extinction Your message will be the second warning to Canton House to stop serving shark fin soup or face a public outcry. If they still dont comply, well write thousands of damning reviews on popular restaurant rating tools like Yelp, Urbanspoon and Zagat. And when we approach other restaurants, they will take us seriously right away when we show the hundreds of colorful reviews that we’ve posted. Please join me and email or post on Canton House’s Facebook page. For the sharks, Aaron and the rest of the Environmental Action team
