Rick Perry has been the most prolific and accomplished exponent of crony capitalism and just plain cronyism in this entire millennium. And one cant help but wonder why he was so intent on defunding a program that was designed to monitor and prevent political corruption. Tell me: With Perry planning to run for President of the United States again and his protege, Greg Abbott, locked in a close race with Wendy Davis for Governor of Texas, is it unreasonable to assume that, if Perry could corral an opportunity to install one of his hand picked jackals in the position of guardian of the realm, at least three things would happen: (1) All of the polls for this years election would be moved into the Gulf where they would be accessible only by yacht; (2) It would suddenly and unexpectedly be discovered that Wendy Davis used to be Kermit Gosnells office manager and chief nurse; and (3) The 2016 presidential referendum would bear a striking resemblance to one of those wide open, indisputably fair elections that have resulted in Kim Jong Un receiving 97% of the North Korean vote. Besides, what could possibly go wrong if the authority to initiate and conduct a states political corruption investigations were handed to the designee of a Republican governor who is planning to run for president? I mean, its not like a Republican appointee in these circumstances would conduct the inquiries with anything less than pure, unabashed objectivity. At least, Issa pose they wouldnt.
