Riding Without Training Wheels “5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. 6 So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?—Heb. 13:5-6 (NIV) When a child learns to ride a bicycle, training wheels are attached to prevent injury. The child is rides with training wheels for a while so they can get the gist of riding a bicycle. Over time, the training wheels are removed and the child is expected to ride without them. Using what he learned with the training wheels, the child is expected to ride without them. There are times in the Christian’s life that God allows His children to live with training wheels. These are times we can literally feel His presence. Whatever we do or wherever we go, it feels like He is right there with us. However, there are other times that it seems God is distant, nowhere to be found. We pray and it seems as if God isn’t listening, our prayers seems to bounce off the ceiling. When this occurs, the training wheels have been removed. We must remember God is ALWAYS with us, but we won’t always feel His presence. God expects us to live in faith, not in our feelings, knowing He is always there and cares about all that we go through.
