Rieth Auto Stores in Ohio, was a sponser of SCCA driver Steve Fried back in the 70s. Steve continued his racing career as a pit crew member and Chief Mechanic at Indy. He was actually critically injured in a serious accident in the pits during the 1999 Indy 500. He was hit by a car pulling in for a pit stop and the incident resulted in a mandate that pit crew personnel wear helmets for protection during racing events.
