Right Im not giving in, so forced myself in the garage. Fist job was to strip down the Corsa steering column, next, Vauxhalls idea if a collapsable steering shaft, was to fit a slimed shaft into a splined sleeve and fill it with moulted plastic, so next was to heat up the centre of the shaft to melt the plastic so I can seperate the shafts. I then cut the splined section off. I cut the end section off an old steering column complete with steering wheel, thats been kicking about, now the first job on the lathe I bought, bore out the donor shaft so it fits the corsa shaft. Before I do any welding, gotta test it for angle etc, so made a couple of brackets the column will mount to, clamped them to the dash support, fitted the column. Starting to look good.
