Heres what I wrote: Why not write an accurate headline like, “Just as when skiers flock to Whistler after a big storm, Watertown has become a mecca for kayakers” - With a late thaw and a deep snow pack, The Black River has become more akin to world-famous kayak destinations like the Zambezi and the Nile Rivers. The way you written your story about the kayakers visiting the Black river is really damaging to our sport and the access that so many people put so much effort into maintaining. If you wrote a story like this after skiers flocked to a ski town for a big storm, the town, or at least the resorts, would sue you for slander. Perhaps that’s exactly what we should have our governing bodies do, not to mention that the city of Watertown hosted the 2006 World Cup of Freestyle Kayaking with the specific intention of promoting the town as a kayaking destination.
