Right at 24 years ago I went to bed around this time and woke up ready to be a teenage mom. At 4:17 in the morning the I felt the first pain and realized it would be a good idea to wake Donnie up only to realize that was easier said than done, so I took a shower and double checked my hospital bag instead. Once he finally woke up enough to realize what was going on, he went to start our car and there was ice on the ground. The car wouldnt start so he pushed it down the hill and still didnt get it started. He came back inside to tell me what happened so I went down the hill and helped him push it back up and then back down again to finally get it started. We went from there to Bonita Frazee-Watson house. We sat with her while she timed my contractions and upon realizing they were less than a minute apart, she finally managed to pry me away from watching Grease and off to the hospital we went. Dr. Westwood met us there and informed me that if I was in labor at my age, I would be scared senseless and besides that they werent equipped to deliver babies, I would have to go on to Dardanelle or Russellville. I insisted I was in labor and would not be making it to either town. He finally decided to check my dilation just for giggles. Once he checked he told the nurse in a rather panicked voice to get me prepped, he was about to deliver a baby. Exactly 4 pushes and 9 minutes later, Desirae Nicole Sims happened. I instantly fell in love and since then have raised a beautiful, intelligent, outspoken, crazy young lady.
