Right now in the states there is a legal battle going on about animal rights. Sounds reasonable, but what they are arguing is a classification called animal standing. In essence it would give animals person-hood so that they could sue their owners for mistreatment. Getting a bit bizarre! It may even, if passed, forbid the killing of pigs, cattle, chickens, etc.no more meat. Even more bizarre! Cat and dog owners would have to teach their pets to eat vegetables. Still more bizarre! Cat owners would be sued because their pets brutally kill a plethora of birds and small animals.Even more bizarre yet! We would have to put down every carnivorous animal for the most inhumane slaughter and consumption of innocent herbivores.So in order to save the animals we would have to kill all the animals that keep the herbivores in balance which would mean that their populations would explode and devour every plant and we would facilitate the extinction of every living thing. Oh no they say that is just the natural way of things and that is OK.But if your a naturalist and man is just another species then what man is doing right now is just natural also! Do these idiot academics even think their arguments through?
