Right on and well said, Jocey. From the look of my royalty statements, I make absolutely zilch from books sold via Amazon. Id like to hope my efforts are worth more than that. Meantime, Amazon has never made the least effort to promote or sell my books, unlike Cafe Books, Pages on Kensington, Crocketts Trading Agency and other independent booksellers, and unlike RMB|Rocky Mountain Books, a great small publishing house that actually believes in writers and writing. We get the society we choose, and if the only choice we make as consumers is to buy as cheaply as we can from online pirates, we will get a cheap society too - with fewer authors, fewer bookstores, and less community.
