Right, so we lost. You would think by some of the comments here on Facebook that someone had died!? I cannot really comment on the match as I only watched it on television. You cannot see the movement off the ball or how much work certain players put in unless you see it live. It didnt help that we lost Johnson at the last minute. Last I heard it was a jaw problem and he had to go to hospital. Three theories? 1. He had lock jaw. 2. He had a bad tooth. 3. Someone hit him! I have no idea. Obviously the past is all hypothetical. I expect they will tell us if we need to know. It did mean that Flanagan was thrown in at the last minute Given his lack of experience and what a high profile game it was he did alright. The jury is still out on playing three at the back. It worked against West Brom. but it has to be horses for courses. Perhaps if Johnson had been playing it would have worked. We will never know. Some players underplayed, and I will never slag off one of my players. I think that Wenger got his tactics right, and credit to him, he did stop some of our players playing. A lot of people seem to think that Agger should have played. Why he wasnt played, and where Rodgers should have played him I dont know. I have personal preferences and I dont always agree with the team selection, but Rodgers knows more about the players than any of us will ever know. I remember, years ago on the Kop, that people were slagging off Phil Neal. I knew that he had a bad injury but because we had no cover, he played with pain killing injections. Others werent aware of this and had a right moan at him. People seem to think that Coutinho should have been on from the start. He was only given the all clear by a Specialist last Tuesday so to play him for the full 90 minutes would have been wrong. I will admit, I like the way Rodgers looks after our players. It must have been tempting to play him from the off, but he thought of the player which is correct. If you rush him back into action too soon (especially in such a high profile match) you could then have him out for even longer. I could go on for ages about who should have played, who did not have a very good game etc. etc. We dont know what goes on behind closed doors and we have to hold our hands up and say that, on the day, we were beaten by a better team. If that ref. had decided to let the game flow, instead of being pedantic and wanting to write someones name down in his little book, then we would have scored, which could have changed the whole game. Put it down to experience. A quarter of the season gone and we are in joint second place. At the beginning of the season I would have taken that. December is going to be a busy month for us (Look at my fixture list) and some of our players do not fire when they come back from Internationals - and we all know who they are. A final thought. I know Clubs complain when they have a lot of fixtures, but to be quite honest, I think it helps sometimes. Arsenal seemed more switched on having played during the week. You can train all you like, and have friendly matches behind closed doors, but there is no substitute for the real thing. Put that match behind us, learn from it and move on. Fulham at home next. Lets hope that everyone is fit and raring to go. You wont find me slagging off my team on here. I support Liverpool win, lose or draw. Players dont want to lose so why have a go at them? Cheer up, support your team and move on!
