Righteous shoot, shot at center of exposed mass (his leg) until the suspect released his girlfriend/hostage and she rolled out of the way exposing more of his body. Then the shot to the abdomen and the bad guy dropped the knife and ceased being a threat. Note the officers 1st priority is to rescue the victim, 2nd is to call in RESCUE for both the victim and the bad guy. Since he still had the knife by him they had to cover him until the knife was secured. Im sure they then handcuffed him to maintain control so he could be treated without fighting or even trying to take his own life. Good work by the police officers involved, especially the shooter!
