Rightly Dividing the Word of God by Warren Litzman It is always in my mind to share any and all truth that reveals a greater fullness of Christ as the believer’s life. In my search of the Scriptures, I have found that the King James Version of the Scriptures is the best translation to help the believer see Christ as life. This is not to say that the King James is perfect. I have not found any perfect translation, but I have found that the King James has less human or denominational agendas attached to it. It is also helpful to have a good Greek New Testament translation. The way you search the Scriptures has a great impact on your spiritual growth. It is much like a home builder. If he lays a sure foundation, the rest of the building process will be simpler and easier. From the foundation on up, everything will fit if the architect’s plans are followed. So it is in our search for truth. There will be things that fit and other things that will be contrary to the foundation. Knowing the things that apply to the believer will be necessary for spiritual growth. Unless the believer is able to rightly divide truth there will be little growth. It is always my desire to make available truth that will assist the growing believer. To do this, we must be dedicated to “rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15), as well as seeing the Apostle Paul as the one who lays the proper foundation from the Master Builder, Christ. We follow Paul, (“be ye followers of me”) I Cor. 4:16, 11:1), as he follows Christ. In so doing, we must be careful not to join together things that “differ”, for in so doing both may become of “none effect” or even disallowed by the Spirit. For instance, to join together the leading of the Lord from two different dispensations will hinder the believer from knowing God’s leading for him today. I want to show you the importance of rightly dividing such as: the two gospels, circumcision and uncircumcision; the two comings of the Lord, one in the rapture for the Church and the other for Israel at the close of the tribulation period; the kingdom of heaven on earth where Christ restores Israel, and the kingdom of God where the born again, seated with Christ, live. As we study the Scriptures, we learn that man has been on this present earth about 6,000 years. The first 2,400 years or so, the Creator God allowed man “to do that what seemed right in his own sight” but he did, even as he does today, only that which is according to his will and ways, with little regard for what is right as the Holy Creator of all sees “right”. So we read in Romans 1:18-32, that …”God also gave them up to uncleanness…even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge,” (vv. 24,28). We see that at the same time the Lord called to His service a man we now know as Abraham. To Abraham was born a son, Isaac, and to Isaac was also born a son, Jacob, whose name was changed by the Lord to Israel. Now to this man was given twelve sons, and from these twelve came to be that one great nation we know as Israel. Israel was chosen by God to be the people and nation that would restore the earth. While this did not happen during Bible times, it will happen during Christ’s reign on earth in the Millennium.
