Rights of the individual They are protecting the rights of humans – but not their gods or ideals. So providing you’re not offending an individual person, there is freedom of speech. People can be offended by all sorts of things. Atheist threatens to sue Ray Comfort over bumper sticker (1/3) https://youtube/watch?v=ucHIPag-m40 If we want the Muslim world to move into the 21st century, it would be wise not to offend the believers of the prophet. ......but not by accusing progressive Muslims of medieval darkness when they are really trying to adapt to the modern world of tomorrow. What does this mean? Do we have to respect Mohammeds beliefs and actions? Or do we just have to respect Mohammed? Is there a difference? As for progressive Muslims, dont they face the problem of doing the above? Progress form what, to what? If progressive Muslims are changing things, should we support them? If we do, we might be disrespecting the others. By saying there are progressive Muslims do we imply that some are backward?
