United Kingdom. https://etsy/shop/joannaPYBUS My name is Joanna Pybus, and I am a Fashion and Accessories Designer based in London, England. I graduated from the University of East London in 2012 with a First Class Honours Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design with Marketing, and went on to set up my own label, JOANNA PYBUS, in February 2013. I complete all elements of my designs myself from start to finish, starting with research, design development and print design, right though to pattern cutting, sampling and manufacturing. My inspiration is drawn from many sources. Being aware of, and understanding the context of where my work comes from and where it fits into the world is very important to me. One of my favourite eras to research is the 1980s- it was a period of extremes and experimentation in design, reflected in the strong graphic approach, as seen in early Nintendo games and bold Memphis Milano furniture. I love visual culture and the challenge of creating coherent collection which celebrates my interests and what excites me. I think fashion should allow people to have fun and release them from their inhibitions, and I hope I reflect this in the lightness and humour of my designs. My work isnt just about following the latest trends, its about having an awareness of what people want to wear, and how they want to feel when theyre wearing it. I make clothing that has a voice, and is designed to be treasured and looked after.
