Rise Above July 20th 2014 Begging your kind indulgence. A challenging week has left me with a nasty case of writers block, so Im repeating a message from November of 2012. It is one that I think will always have relevance. Next week Ill have something new to share.... “Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalms 31:24 It doesnt matter how well you try to live your life, how well you try to prepare or ensure that you are ready to meet lifes challenges, the fact is that things are going to go wrong. Bad things happen to good people. That is a fact of life that none of us can avoid. All you can do is prepare for the foreseeable pitfalls and do the best you can to ride out lifes storms. During these times of trial, remember that not everything that goes wrong is necessarily your fault. Sometimes an accident is just that. An accident. Bad circumstance. If a relationship doesnt work out, dont be too quick to assume that its due to some fault of yours, or somethinr youve done or said wrong. Sometimes people are simply not going to feel about you the way that you feel about them. Sometimes these things are simply not meant to be, and youll have to do your best to let it go. Or maybe a coworker seems to be rude to you all the time. Again, you just have to accept that some people are not compatible with you. Try to give them space, and do your best to not dwell on it. Move on. If you do find yourself burdened by trials and bad fortune, it can be natural to be depressed, and to draw back into yourself. Remember that while you might feel alone, in fact you are not. We all have someone who is affected by the life that we live. it might be a spouse, or friend or family member. It could be a coworker or even a store clerk who chats with you while you shop. And in these days of internet and social media, it might even be someone in another state or country that youve never seen face to face. And dont forget, those of you who have them, that you are a very important part of your pets lives. Of course, knowing this doesnt always make it easier to lift yourself out of depression. There is no one secret or magic bullet that works fot everyone. Dont deny sadness or grief. Acknowledge it. Let it run its natural course, and try to find a source of strength or comfort. They are different for everyone, but we all have them. Find yours. Dont be afraid to indulge. Remember, we all face strife and difficulty. But we also all have greatness and courage and strength. Rise above.
